Call for Workshop Proposals Submission Deadline

Mid-July, 2026

Acceptance Notification

We are soliciting proposals for workshops to be held together with the CDC 2026, on Monday December 14, 2026. The purpose of the workshops is to provide a comprehensive forum on topics that will not be fully explored during the main conference and to encourage in-depth discussions on technical, application, and community issues. Due to space and time limitations, as well as to promote diversity of topic coverage, we will only be able to retain a limited number of proposals. Therefore, we encourage the workshop organizers to submit proposals that are specific and detailed in justifying relevance, viability, and uniqueness. Workshops that are substantially similar to each other in content may be asked to merge, and the CDC Operating Committee reserves the right to accept/reject the workshop proposals and to cancel nonviable workshops after registration.

In addition, we strongly encourage and will give special consideration during the review process to workshops aiming to create a forum where we broadly reach out to elicit the best scholarship, innovation, and breadth of ideas that our community has to offer. Workshop proposals should include a statement articulating the broader impacts of the workshop towards the benefit of society at large and towards the CSS goals of inclusive excellence and broadening access and opportunity for all.

A workshop proposal should include:

  1. Title of the workshop
  2. Objectives and expected outcomes
  3. List of organizers along with their short bio and contact details
  4. List of speakers along with their short bio
  5. Schedule with (tentative) titles of the presentations and with the indication whether the workshop is full day or half-day
  6. Statement explaining the diversity of the session in terms of gender, geography, industry/academia affiliation, and/or other forms of diversity

The workshops will be in-person only, and no online connection will be used during the workshops.

Questions can be directed to the workshop chair, Solmaz Kia (solmaz@uci.edu)

Additional information for workshop organizers

Workshop organizers are responsible for creating their schedules for individual workshops in their proposals.  However, here is a recommended schedule for full-day workshops:

  • 8:30 to 10:00: Workshop session
  • 10:00 to 10:30: Coffee break
  • 10:30 to 12:00: Workshop session
  • 12:00 to 14:00: Lunch break
  • 14:00 to 15:30: Workshop session
  • 15:30 to 16:00: Coffee & snack
  • 16:00 to 17:30: Workshop session

N.B. Each 1.5‑hour workshop session may be structured flexibly by the organizers. Sessions may include multiple 30‑minute individual talks, fewer longer presentations, panel discussions, lightning talks, or other activities deemed suitable for the workshop objectives.

Speaker Commitments: To foster in-depth discussion and full engagement, it is desired that speakers limit their participation to a single workshop. Organizers are encouraged to coordinate with their invited speakers to minimize multiple commitments where possible.

Session Format: Please note that dedicated poster sessions cannot be accommodated. Organizers are encouraged to use "lightning talks" (e.g., a 4-minute presentation followed by a 1-minute Q&A) as an alternative for highlighting the work of young researchers.

Equipment: Presenters are responsible for providing their own laptops and any necessary adapters. The conference will provide standard A/V (screens and projectors) but will not provide individual computers.
